EQ4.0 to EQ4.1 Update

Check your release of EQ4
With EQ4 open, click on Help on the main menu bar and choose About EQ4. If you have version 4.1, then you have the highest version of EQ4. Otherwise, use the directions below to download and install the latest program update.
Download the EQ4.0 to EQ4.1 Update
Download the file
Depending on your modem speed, the capabilities of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and overall Internet traffic, downloading the upgrade may take 30 minutes or longer. This is a large file (3 MB) which will not fit on a standard floppy disk, so it should be downloaded directly onto your hard drive.
You will be prompted for a location to Save the file. It is recommended that you save it in the EQ4 folder for future use. NOTE: You must install this update each time EQ4 is uninstalled and reinstalled. If you save the file in the EQ4 folder, it will be easy for you to find it if you need to use it again. The EQ4 Uninstall program will not delete this file so it will remain in the EQ4 folder even if you uninstall EQ4.
You can download the Update by clicking on the underlined words "Download the EQ4.0 to EQ4.1 Update" found at the bottom of this page. The name of the file is equpdate.exe.
Install the update
After you have successfully downloaded the file, make sure you have turned off all programs, including any virus-checkers you may have running in memory. (To turn off programs, hold down the CTRL + ALT + Delete keys to bring up the "Close Program" box. Click on a program name, to highlight it. Click on the End Task button to close the program. Do not have EQ4 open.
Find the equpdate.exe file on your computer. (It will be in the EQ4 folder if you saved it there as recommended above, otherwise it will be in the folder where your downloads go to by default.) Double-click on the equpdate.exe file. This decompresses the files needed for the installation and starts the installation program automatically. This installation will modify an existing installation of The Electric Quilt Version 4.0.
Print out the Readme.doc
The new EQ4.1 Readme.doc contains much helpful information. Find it by going to My Computer, opening the hard drive on which EQ4 is installed. Then open the EQ4 folder. Find the file Readme listed here. Double-click on it to open it. Print it by choosing Print from the FILE menu.

IMPORTANT
NOTE: You must already have EQ4 installed on your system before
you can install the Update. The Update does not provide an independently
working software program. The Update Installer will check for an installed
copy of EQ4 before proceeding. You must have a valid EQ4 serial number
to complete the installation.
