Club EQ Album: August 2004 Challenge: Nature! Page 2

Use a leaf block somewhere in your quilt. Choose any leaf block design from the EQ5 Block Library or one you have designed yourself. Set it into a quilt and design with it or around it.

Debi Snyder
Twirling Leaves

The center blocks give the impression of leaves twirling in the wind. The Sweet Gum blocks in the corner of the outside border, plus the corner blocks on the inside border carry the abstract leave theme.

The center blocks were designed by me with EQ5, after seeing a similar quilt hanging on the wall of a shop, Sew Bee It, in Quilt Sampler 2003.

Dreaming of Fall

After just spending a month in Pennsylvania with my mom, I am dreaming of the lush collors that happen in the fall there.

I love William Moris et al and the way these designs "tile". Delighted to find a print for the border which mimics the block.

Tumbling Leaves

The border diamond shapes are not the same size as the centre diamonds, but in a 'real' quilt this could move into the corner spaces.

Autumn Splendor

I had this finished but when I came back to send it, I got an "unreadable polygon" error so had to do it over. Couldn't find the same gold print I had used the first time.

Northern Autumn Splendor

After nearly 10 years of living in Houston, TX, we are very happy to be "back home" in Michigan where we can once again enjoy the beauty of Autumn...even if it means raking leaves. What an inspiration!

Autumn Wind

This is simply based on my favorite time time of year. It won't be long before I get crisp days with glorious clear blue sky, drifting brilliant leaves and geese flying away to warmer weather.

This is viewed better with outline blocks and patches both turned off.

Where have all the flowers gone?

This block is from the EQ library. I added the plants and leaves at the bottom with no flowers.

Fall

This month's challenge of using leaf blocks made we think of fall, leaves turning to pretty gold and red colours and the squirrels gatthering a winter supply of food.
