Club EQ Album: February 2004 Challenge: Drunkard's Path! Page 3

Design a quilt with a block from the Drunkard's Path book (1 Classic Pieced) or from the Fans book (2 Contemporary Pieced) in the EQ5 Block Library. Or you may design your own block that has a square with a curved corner patch like the Drunkard's Path. The blocks in your quilt should have this Drunkard's Path block or variation as the primary (majority) block but you may introduce other complementary blocks.

Thorn Trees

Winnipeg, MB Canada In this quilt, I used the Steeplechase and Drunkard's Path blocks in the centre and placed the Jan's Fan block in the border. I used a layout from the EQ Library - Irregular Grids - 15. I called my quilt "Thorn Trees" because in an abstract way it reminds me of the thorn trees that grow on the hot dry plains of India. I used to live in such a climate and today, when it is -40 degrees C., it is nice to dream!

Tuck and Pull

California This was made with just two types of blocks 1 dunkards path and a plain old square I was playing with the rotating when I thought that I should make a snake around then I saw the link above and I was hooked. I am sure somebody came up with it before me but hey it was fun. All colors and blocks are from the standard eq library.

This design came about using the windmill block. I think this would make a great signature quilt.

This was using the Butterfly fan, guess since it was Valentine Day a heart was just the right touch for this design.

I only used one block and rotated several to create a lattice effect. In the border I used blocks to continue the theme.

Feb 04 ClubEQ challenge Ft Wayne, In This quilt was created using one of the special layouts from the layout library. The drunkards path block was re-drawn so the arcs would meet. I have not progressed to curved piecing, so I would make these blocks by sewing to interfacing & appliqueing to the background

Tipsy Round

Shippenville, PA I actually did this in fabric this month. I received the Drunkard's Path block as the first step in a round robin. I was to set it on point and add a border using triangles. I couldn't have done it without EQ. The fabrics were similar to those in this design.
