Flower Appliqué
Flower Appliqué
  Flower Appliqué by: Evelyn Townsend

I am sending a project file and picture of a the actual quilt.  This was a quilt that I completed in late 2008.  The quilt won second prize in the Richmond Quilt Show in 2008.  It took me about 3 years to complete, working off and on.  I could not have done the quilt without EQ because the dimensions of the border blocks were very odd, to say the least.  All the blocks in the border were paper pieced with templates from EQ.

Refreshing Spa Bubbles
Refreshing Spa Bubbles
Refreshing Spa Bubbles by: Patricia Bravo

It was done with EQ6; in fact, I make ALL of them on your software... Well, once you start drawing on EQ6 you become addicted!

I love curves and all the blocks with curves in the world! So I use all the ones provided on EQ6 and BLOCK BASE. My style and approach to design may be different from other quilters; I try to give a contemporary twist to my designs and to make blocks compatible with my big print fabrics. The new trend in quilting is big prints, big blocks, and easy to sew! I think curved blocks are not used to their fullest potential and they are so fun. Plus, believe it or not, I never piece a curved block; I use an appliqué technique to encourage quilters to sew curved blocks and not to be afraid of curves! I have a tutorial on my blog and people love it… “curved seams 101”. I print my templates from EQ6, but I use them differently…

On my quilt “Refreshing Spa Bubbles” I was looking for a lot of movement, and I think I achieved that! It’s very modern, fast to sew, and the result is an appealing and attractive quilt (in my opinion).
I am very happy with the software; you made a lot of improvements from EQ5. Would recommend it to anybody; it is very versatile!!”

I saw a picture of this as an ad for Quiltmaker's Magazine.  I drew my own version.  A little more classy instead of cutsie

I saw a picture similar to this in an old book.  I loved the bright colors. This took several tries to get the angles and the paper piecing correct, but it finally came together!

Rail Fence
Rail Fence
  Rail Fence by: Eileen Hoheisel

This quilt was made to be a baby gift.

When I made the Rail Fence, I wanted something easy and fast, but looked great.  I played around the blocks and came up with this layout, and I think it looks much more complicated than it was.  Without EQ, I probably wouldn't have come with this layout.  This baby quilt has not yet been given.

Four Elements
Four Elements
  Four Elements by: Barbara Oakley

Here’s an entry for the quilt gallery that I designed using EQ6.  The title is “Four Elements.”  I designed and completed all the work myself.

I had several sources of inspiration for this wall hanging.  I wanted to work more with circles and curves.  I wanted to use some of my stash and scrap collection.  I wanted something to commemorate the design of my wedding invitations.  And I especially wanted to try out the techniques I’d been learning from a book on thread calligraphy – in addition to seeing an EQ design to completion.  I’m really pleased with the results!

Early Morning Madness
Early Morning Madness
Early Morning Madness by: Evelyn Townsend

I wanted to send you a picture of the quilt that I just finished using EQ6 to design it. The name of the quilt is Early Morning Madness and it took over a year to finish. I used EQ6 to design all of the quilt and it went through many, many revisions along the way.

The sixteen blocks are machined embroidered. I used EQ6 to create the embroidery design. I then exported the design and digitized it with Bernina's Designer Plus software. I then imported a PNG file of the design in Designer Plus to bring back into EQ6 has a photo to place into the blocks.

The designs around the perimeter of the blocks are from EQ6 quilting designs that I redrew as motifs so I could color them. I used trapunto on all the motifs in the blocks. The sashing squares and corners and the center flowers in the border blocks were machined embroidered using fleece that I then cut away to create the trapunto effect.

Finally, I longarm quilted the entire quilt, and handpainted the quilt using fabric pens. I called it Early Morning Madness because I worked on it usually between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM in the mornings before work!

Joey's Quilt
Joey's Quilt
  Joey's Quilt by: Eileen Hoheisel

I designed the quilt with the Chopped 9-patch.  I had started with 25 blocks.  It looked good in EQ, but when I had the blocks done and up on my design wall, the pattern was lost.  So I took out the center blocks up and down, and across, and that was it.  My daughter Cari Stumpf decided to use the pattern for her husband's godson [Joey is due any day now].  Cari is Joey's big sister Kaitlyn's godmother.  Cari pieced and quilted it.

Jessie's Quilt
Jessie's Quilt
Jessie's Quilt by: Carol E. Skrube

I designed the mice in this quilt based on a childrens book I read to my granddaughter years ago. It was her favorite book and I still have it in case she has a child of her own, that is why I made the quilt too, she is 28 years old. I designed the layout and machine appliqued and hand quilted it.
