Ribbon Stars Expanding
Ribbon Stars Expanding
Ribbon Stars Expanding (a garbage can constellation) by: Marla Whalen

An original pinwheel block is skewed into the diamonds of a star layout from the Layout Library. These blocks literally ended up in the garbage when I was starting to think this was an 'unsewable' design. I took them out for one more try, and the result of that perseverance is what you see here. This is one of my few designs in which I actually designed part of the quilting in EQ as well, using Wreathmaker.

Untitled
Untitled
  Untitled by: Marla Whalen

This quilt was designed for the Quiltmaker "Batik Remix" contest, in which contestants re-interpreted a pattern published in Quiltmaker in Robert Kaufman's Artisan Batiks. After purchasing the fabrics, I realized I had the colors of an underwater environment and a coral reef--so the quilting motifs are all ocean-related. The quilt is currently on tour with the contest.

But Not Forgotten
But Not Forgotten
But Not Forgotten by: Marla Whalen

This is my design that is pictured in the EQ6 User Manual (p. 231). I designed the quilt to use a particular set of fabrics from a trip to Hancock's of Paducah. The design was set aside for quite a while, then scaled down to use the half-yards I had purchased. The quilt is about 21 inches square, and the white quilting designs were traced from a Dover book image.

Group Batik quilt
Group Batik quilt
Group Batik quilt Organized by: Lida Letey

This is what our EQ6 group did as a project. The 6 members each made 2 blocks from EQ using a white background fabric and a batik fabric. I then added the sashing and border and another member quilted it. It will be in the Silent Auction at our local Quilt show. The Auction proceeds will go to the Local area Hospice. We were lucky to recieve a bid of $225. Other memebers donated other items for this cause. The quilt show silent auction made $4235.00 total for Hospice.

My Joy
My Joy
My Joy Quilt top designed and pieced by Joan L. Mathews

This quilt is called "My Joy" because just looking at the colors makes me smile. I designed, pieced and hand quilted it. The top design tumbled around in my head for months and is totally responsible for my purchase of the EQ6 program. Trying to draw all those Carpenter's Wheel blocks for different possible layouts was more than I was willing to do on graph paper! EQ6 also allowed me to "audition" quilting designs and the scale of the designs before I committed to them. It was finished in May 2009.

Risky Business
Risky Business
ABQ-136 Risky Business Small Wallhanging by: Brenda Miller

This pattern was created in EQ6 and is based on my web site 'mascot' Harry the Cat.  Harry practically has his own fan club.  You can follow his antics at http://www.amongbrendasquilts.com/about-harry.html

Back of the pattern reads: "Our little mouse is taking big chances passing by the window of Harry the Cat. But don't worry, the mouse hurries away and Harry eventually gets fed by his doting owners. All's right with the world... For intermediate quilters. Fusible appliqué is demonstrated. Perfect for machines with zigzag or other blanket style stitching capabilities."

Woven Summer Dreams
Woven Summer Dreams
Woven Summer Dreams by: Carol Trumbull

I took a class in curved piecing by Barb Sherrill. I started making light and dark fabric chunks with curved piecing. I wanted a curvy design that was exploded. I played with Wreathmaker. I decided to tilt the whole design that I made in wreathmaker. Then I stretched and shrunk some of the units. When I printed out the pattern, I decided to curve the background area around the center design and not make it rectangular. I used two different floral prints to represent the coloration of the curved pieced fabrics.

Isa Kaelin
Isa Kaelin
Isa Kaelin's quilt Designed and made by Bari Berger

I made this for a friend's first grandchild. I bought the fabrics, bright prints, first, without any specific pattern in mind. I had to use EQ to determine fabric placement and colors to get them to work well together!

Route 66 baby quilt
Route 66 baby quilt
Baby quilt - Route 66 Designed and made by Bari Berger

I made this for a friend's first baby, a boy. They were doing the nursery in a Route 66 theme! I found the focus print and the small Route 66 sign print and designed the quilt from there. The block is a modified Road to California block - quite appropriate for the quilt!
