What is EQ4 Show?
EQ4 Show is a stand-alone quilt viewer. It creates a "screen-saver-like" show, featuring
quilts from your own EQ4 projects.
How do I get EQ4 Show?
Follow the directions below to download and install EQ4 Show on your computer's hard drive.
How long does EQ4 Show take to download?
Depending on your modem speed, the capabilities of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and overall Internet traffic, downloading the upgrade should take 10 minutes or considerably less. Download EQ4 Show directly onto your hard drive. If you have trouble downloading, it may be that the site is busy. Try again another time.
Who can use EQ4 Show?
Owners of Electric Quilt version 4.0 and 4.1 (EQ4) can use EQ4 Show.
Is EQ4 Show a demo for EQ4?
No. EQ4 Show is not an EQ4 demo. It can, however, demonstrate your quilts from projects you've made in EQ4.
What does EQ4 Show do?
EQ4 Show shows quilts in whatever projects you select. Create your own on-screen quilt show just for fun, or as a store or show computer demo.
How does EQ4 Show work?
Once you've installed EQ4 Show, you're the director. Open EQ4 Show and pick projects, speed,
and "special effects" to customize your show. Click the forward arrow button to
start the show.
I don't see a Desktop icon. How do I run EQ4 Show?
You open EQ4 show by choosing Start - Programs - Electric Quilt - EQ Show
Can I make a Desktop icon for EQ4 Show?
Yes. Here's how:
- On the Windows Desktop, click with your right mouse button.
- Highlight New.
- Click on Shortcut.
- Type the command line: C:\EQ4\QShow.exe
- Click Next.
- Type in EQ4 Show (or whatever name you'd like) to name the Shortcut.
- Click Finish.
Can I make EQ4 Show show projects from a floppy disk?
Yes. Open EQ4 Show, click on the Browse button, and change the directory to look at your floppy
drive.
Can I make a special folder for EQ4 projects?
Yes. Here's a great tip from Susan Parker, from San Jose who wanted to make a special group
of projects just for her EQ4 Show:
- In order to have the quilts I wanted in EQ4 Show I used first created a new folder named
EQ4 Show in the EQ4 PRJ folder, using Windows Explorer.
- Open EQ4 and open a project you want in your show.
- Delete anything in the project that you don't want in your show.
- Click FILE, Save As for the project, rename the project and save it in your new EQ4 Show
folder. I renamed my projects Eqshow1, Eqshow2, etc.
- Start EQ4 Show, clicking on the Browse button, selecting your EQ Show folder, and opening
it.
- Click on run and watch the show!
DOWNLOADING EQ4 SHOW
Download EQ4 Show
- Before you download EQ4 Show, close other programs running. Then click on the underlined words above. A "File Download" box appears.
- Have the "Save this program to disk" option selected and click OK.
- A "Save As" box appears. Click the down arrow beside the "Save in:" box. A
list drops down.
- Scroll to find the hard drive where you installed EQ4 (typically C:\).
- Click on this hard drive name. This puts the hard drive name in the "Save in:" box.
You see a list of folders below.
- Double-click on the EQ4 folder.
- Click the Save button. EQ Show will be saved right into the EQ4 folder.
(Note: If this is not how your browser works, then right-click on the underlined
project file above and choose "Save Link as..." or "Save Target As..." option.
When the "File Download" box appears, choose the option "Save this program
to disk," click OK, and then the "Save As..." box will appear. You can move
to your EQ4 folder and save EQ4 Show there.
INSTALLING EQ4 SHOW
- Install EQ4 Show by going to My Computer, opening your EQ4 folder and double-clicking on the file: showpkg.exe
- If you get an error message, cancel, then try installing EQ Show again.
RUNNING EQ4 SHOW
Following a successful installation, run EQ4 Show by choosing Start - Programs -
Electric Quilt - EQ Show.
You'll see a dialog box with tabs. Make your choices and run the viewer from this box. Enjoy!
