How do I use the Civil War Diary or Civil War Love Letter CDs with EQ5 or EQ6 or EQ7?
The Civil War Diary and the Civil War Love Letter are not software programs. Each CD contains an EQ5 project file. So there is no installation involved, you simply open the file from the CD into EQ5 or EQ6 or EQ7.
To open the project:
1. Have the Civil War CD in your CD-ROM drive.
2. Open EQ5 or EQ6 or EQ7 > click the Open an Existing Project tab > click the folder in the bottom-left corner marked “Click here to open a project not listed above.
3. Click the down arrow beside the “Look in:” box to drop the list.
4. Click on your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive that contains the Civil War CD in the drop-down list.
5. (EQ6 and EQ7 only) If you have EQ6 or EQ7, click the arrow beside “Files of type:” and select “Previous EQ Versions.”
6. Click the project name > click Open. The Sketchbook will open.
To resave the project in EQ7 with your other EQ7 projects:
1. Close the Sketchbook, if it is open.
2. Click FILE > Save As on the main menu.
3. Drop the list down next to Save in: and click on My Documents > double-click the folders My EQ7 > PJ7.
4. Type a name for the project in the File Name: box.
5. Click Save.
Now you will have the original project file, still on the CD, and a newly saved EQ7 project of the same file, in your EQ7 > PJ7 folder. If you would like, you can now create a space in My Library to store the blocks (see page 61 in the EQ7 User Manual) and then save the blocks in My Library (see page 62-63).
To resave the project in EQ6 with your other EQ6 projects:
1. Close the Sketchbook, if it is open.
2. Click FILE > Save As on the main menu.
3. Drop the list down next to Save in: and click on My Documents > double-click the folders My EQ6 > PJ6.
4. Type a name for the project in the File Name: box.
5. Click Save.
Now you will have the original project file, still on the CD, and a newly saved EQ6 project of the same file, in your EQ6 > PJ6 folder. If you would like, you can now create a space in My Library to store the blocks (see page 143 in the EQ6 User Manual) and then save the blocks in My Library (see page 144-145).
