Electric Quilt 6 Frequently Asked Questions
Help, my auto borders are out of order.
The auto borders problem is caused by an old type of file system (FAT32) on your
computer. The old FAT file systems have some security issues, and Microsoft
doesn't recommend using that file system anymore. Here is a link to their webpage
on how to convert to NTFS (this may reformat your hard drive - which would
use an EQ6 activation): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307881
If you want to keep your current file system, here is an alternative.
Please try this on your computer.
If you are familiar with dragging and dropping files in Windows, you just need to move all the auto borders out and add them back in alphabetically one by one. Here are the complete steps:
- Make a new folder on your Desktop temporarily. Name it "Borders" without the quotes.
- Go
to START > My Computer.
- Double-click C drive > Program Files > Electric Quilt Company > EQ6 > RES > BDR. These
are the border files.
- At the top choose EDIT > Select All. EDIT > Cut.
- Minimize this screen.
- Open your Borders folder.
- Choose EDIT > Paste.
- Choose VIEW > Details. Make sure they are alphabetized.
- EDIT > Cut the first file only from the Borders folder and EDIT > Paste it back into
the BDR folder that you still have open.
- Repeat for the rest of the files ALPHABETICALLY
one by one.
Open EQ6 and try the auto borders. That should take care of it!
How can I make EQ6 allow me to have more than 24 blocks in the border?
Click QUILT > Options > All Styles.
Under "Maximum number of blocks horizontally and vertically" change the block number. This number applies both the blocks in the quilt, and in the border. You can specify up to 100 blocks.
Sometimes when I click in an auto border all the border blocks fill with white or the blocks I've been drawing. What's happening?
For some reason, the block IDs are off in your Sketchbook. Please download the EQ6
Update and try setting that same auto border again.
