1. Load the Overlay Sheet into your regular printer or copier tray
with normal paper settings. Print on the side opposite from the paper strip.

2. Print an outline drawing of your block directly onto an Overlay
Sheet, using an inkjet or laser printer or copy machine. Or trace your
block design onto the Overlay, using a permanent marker.

|
3. Place your background fabric right side up onto a flat surface.
You may want to fold the fabric in half, then quarters, and press gently,
to make creases marking your background fabric center.

4. Place the Overlay on top of the background fabric.
Pin or tape the top edge of the sheet in place over the fabric so it
is anchored along its top edge.

| 5. Lift up the bottom edge of the Overlay. Slide in your
applique pieces on top of the background fabric, starting with the bottom
layer of pieces. |

| 6. Looking through the Overlay, align your applique pieces
with the design on the sheet. |
|
| 7. If you are fusing your appliqué pieces, lift the Overlay
and fuse each piece individually, after you place it, using an iron.
Be careful not to touch the Overlay sheet with your iron, as it will
melt. If you plan to needle-turn, continue placing applique pieces until
the bottom layer of pieces are positioned, then applique them in place. |

8. Continue until all applique pieces are positioned.
