Quiltmaker magazine and The Electric Quilt Company are celebrating the release of Quiltmaker Quilting Designs, Vol. 7 software with a contest!
The winner with the best virtual EQ6 quilt gets a $200 EQ gift certificate and the actual quilt... sewn and quilted by Quiltmaker! This is the first time your virtual quilt design will sew itself!
Directions
Design your quilt in Electric Quilt 6 and incorporate quilting designs from any of the Quilting Designs: The Quiltmaker Collection CDs, Vol. 1-7. Designs will be judged on originality and the creative interpretation of the quilting designs.
Submission Guidelines
Use any technique (pieced, foundation pieced,
or appliqué) to design the quilt.
Pattern elements must fit on 1–2 magazine pages, 8.5” x 11”.
Use any stencils from any volume of the Quiltmaker Collection CDs.
Any size quilt is welcome.
In EQ, use solid colors only. Please do not color the quilt with fabrics.
Using the Set Thread tool to color the stencils is optional.
Submissions will be accepted October 27 - December 1, 2009.
You can enter up to three quilts (each in a separate entry form).
Prizes
Grand Prize (1): Winner selected by QM staff.
Quiltmaker will make and pattern your quilt in a
future issue. The winner keeps the quilt after
publication. EQ $200 gift certificate.
EQ Staff Choice (1): $100 gift certificates from QM & EQ.
Viewer's Choice (1): $50 gift certificates from QM & EQ.
How to Enter
Design a quilt following the "Submission Guidelines".
Make a JPEG from the quilt you wish to enter:
- Have the quilt with quilting stencils displayed on the Quilt worktable in EQ6.
- Click FILE > Export Image.
- In the top "Save in:" box, click the down arrow and choose Desktop.
- In the "File name" box, type your name (so we know whose image is whose).
- In the "Save as type" box at the bottom, click the down arrow and choose JPEG files.
- Click Save. An "Export Image File of Quilt" box appears.
- For "Width" and "Height" leave "Keep aspect ratio" checked. Make the width 6".
- For "Resolution" choose 75dpi.
- Leave the JPEG quality at 50.
- Click OK. You will now find the exported JPEG file on your desktop.
Go to Quiltmaker's Entry Page (www.quiltmaker.com > click Contests > click Quiltmaker & Electric Quilt Contest.)
In the tabs above the contest information, click Entry Form.
Fill in the information and upload your quilt photo from your desktop.

Tue, Dec 01 2009 10:00 PM.
Judging
Once the contest ends, Quiltmaker and Electric Quilt will each choose their favorite design.
Viewer's Choice will be decided on the Quiltmaker website based on votes received during the voting period.
