I decided to keep it simple yet ellegant. I was hoping to keep the flow of the quilt flowing through this border. I hope you like.

I started by picking a Horizontal-Center Medallion #16 from the Layout Libraries. Then I added a Double Star, Morning Star and a Snowflake block. I chose the Snow Pallette from what I downloaded from the Palette of the month from the EQ website. I colored my block, then added a Points out 9" edging to complete my Diamond and Square effect. Have fun with this Ladies. I can't wait to see what you come up with...Enjoy!!

Winter Skates

As I like embroidery and motifs in a quilt
this is how I came up with Winter Skates,
It looks like winter snow, snowflakes and
skating. The double wedding ring looks like the circles of skaters.

Independence Bursting Forth

Well since I had the summer theme I had to go with something to do with July the 4th and other things you would see in the summer such as fireworks, red, white and blue and banners.

Spring in the South

I was in a celtic frame of mind when I started this. Our theme was spring and the colors I used reflect this as well. The other members of the rr also kept the celtic theme when they designed their borders.

Cherry tree's blossoms

To illustrate the theme of Spring I chose (1) cherry blossoms (my own design from a picture from a trip to Japan); (2) a bargello that actually I did for Ruth Blanchet's class at Quilt University .
I added a slight border between the center and the first border (I found that the flowers were too large).

THE JEWELS OF LIFE

I liked Renee's idea of the dark purple border, so I added some seperator borders in between everyone's border and did them in the dark purple color, which just made everyones borders stand out even more.

I then added a final bigger border and a smaller binding border in black to pull out the black that was used throughout the quilt.

Once that was all done, I decided to add some more flower motifs to it here and there, where I thought they would have the most impact.

I thought that the black corners that Renee used were perfect but they just need a little something extra, so I stuck a flower in each corner to really make her border eye catching.

I thought that the yellow that Natalie used in her border needed to be toned down just a bit, so I made the border just a bit smaller and added some flower motifs over the yellow and it just seems to make her border stand out so much more now.

I thought that Mimi's border was just beautiful, but just a bit small, so I made it just a tad bigger, so that it would have a better impact.

I think that with the few alterations that I made and the extra borders that I added, the quilt has turned out quite impressive.

I am so impressed with everyones borders.

Oh My Stars!

I absolutely love the borders that everyone added. I didn't think that any needed changing or added too. What I did do was insert a border between the center and 1st border, between the 1st border & 2nd and also between the 3rd & 4th. I did this because I liked the effect that the inserted black borders gives the stars. The stars look like they are "floating" in the center and also on the 2nd border. The black around Natalie's border is intended to be the binding. I think I will probably make this quilt! Thanks everyone for all the great work!
I had fun with this and also with working with all of yours!

Folksy Wreaths

I didn't think I needed to add any borders between the ones everyone added. I like the variety of borders that everyone added. Each draws out an element from the quilt. I just wrapped it up with a plain border and binding. It's interesting to see the simple and what appeared large border get smaller throughout the process!

Time Travel

I LOVE what you all have done, the corners add pizzaz, the multi color pattern creates a new balance, the black allows the colors to POP. I kept the border simple to provide a "framed" look. I also added more black to my center to allow more focus into the core of the "time traveler"!
Thank you to all. This has been a very good experience for me!

The center was created by Lorraine Williams. This center block is based on the 20s/30s add-on for EQ5.

The first border was created by Karen Senn. The key was to frame the center, withough detracting from it.

Second Border by Roxanne Mierow. Created new blocks using a leaf from one of the Baltimore Album blocks and a flower from the center.

This block is a variation from the Angleplay CD.

First Border: Lorraine
I had a blast with this one. I hope Jeannie likes it. At first, I was thinking about a spiraling block, but I really liked the floating effect of using a simple double diamond with a reduced block in the corners. The fracturing effect reminds me of comets or asteroids.

Second Border: Karen Senn
I tried many different types of borders before settling on this one, which give a unique shape to the center, while continuing to use similar shapes as used previously. I think it's very cool!

Third Border: Roxanne Mierow
My goal was to stay true to the center and the first two borders. I continued with the color theme. My biggest problem was the corner block. I hope that Jeannie likes them. Making this quilt would be a real challenge to me -- lots of triangles, lots of bias edges!

Funky Chicken

I auditioned many different looks for this one. Of course, I tried flying geese and chicken themed blocks, but nothing seemed to jump off the page. This border ended up being inspired by the fabric choices. I added a golden yellow to the palette and let the layout guide the rest of the choices. Once I decided on the basics, the rest kind of did itself.
Hope you like it Roxanne! - Lorraine

Spring has Sprung by Vicky Smith

Tulips and birds are always one of the first signs of spring. I wanted to get away from a traditional block for the center of this quilt.

Border 1 by Joann Mendoza
I used a ribbon border to wrap around the garden scene. I used the yellows and greens from the palette along with the black to set it off.

Border 2 by Leanne Davis
I've continued with the black edging on the border, and used the flower & bird motifs from the centre of the quilt in this border.
This is the third border on Vicky's center block. I used some of her motifs to add a little more interest. On the center, she used these leaves but it is hard to see the individual motif....so I thought that I would accentuate her design by separating the leaves.

The blocks in the centre (and border 3) are based on some tile designs I saw in the Royal Ontario Museum (in Toronto) when I was holidaying in Canada during the Canadian winter. The palette used is the 'snow' palette in EQ5

Joann used the Lemoyne Star Twist block for the final border. She thought it looked a bit like a snowflake.
