Sue Bonnet Celebrates the 4th of July

"Sue bonnet center with stripes sashing. I was trying to go for a design to celebrate the 4th of July. I re-do the dress in order to get three different fabrics representing the color of the flag." - Gilma

"I love to use triangles in my borders because they make otherwise simple designs appear much more complex and gives the border an interesting look."- Marguerite

"I had never played with the applique area of EQ so decided this was what I wanted to work on with the first project. I like the ease and the help available." - Debbie

"For this border I tried to keep similar colors, but use smaller elements as a "field". The corners are one of Debbie's blocks." - Lia

"I felt I had to continue to use the yellow as a background because it was so strong and stopping it now might not work. I wanted to repeat the darker color from the center so I tried to mirror the shape also. I drew the Corner block so it would turn smoothly. Since there is so much going on, I places place strips on the sides of the second border." - Judy

"Wow what a gorgeous quilt you are going to have. I hose the pickle dish pattern, I thought it would make a neat frame for the quilt. I used the blues to tone down the yellow. Hope you like it." - Kathee

As soon as I saw this quilt, I got the feel for something ancient and Indian. This border is what I came up with. The bear was already in the sketchbook, I drew the mask and voila! - Juanita

Eeyore's Birthday Celebration

This story from Winnie the Pooh was always one of my favorite as a child. I've actually pieced the 12" block, but am looking for ideas of how to finish it. - Kari

In keeping with the birthday theme, I thought it would be a neat idea to have Eeyore's friends help him celebrate. I drew Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Rabbit and used some of the motifs included with EQ for the cake, ice cream, balloons, and presents. - Juanita

I wanted to move from light to dark as the eye moved from the center. I altered the blocks to remove the extra pieces that would have been all colored the background fabric. - Bob

Species Eriogonum inflatum by mistake

This is NOT what I designed in early October. It was finished with 5 clusters of oak leaves with acorns. It looked 'clunky' to me now. So I kept the background and wreath and added one cluster of leaves with flowers. I tried to use shades of solids and computer generated prints to keep the size down. I think I have one designer fabric from the "Dried Flower" palette just to satisfy the soul. I'm not setting any limits to what is added, though. I added the spacer border (1/4 inch) but if you want to remove or re-size or re-color that before you add the second border, you may. This is the longest notecard I have ever written but I'm through now. - Daphne

The center is a combination of several traditional quilts I have recently seen in books and magazines. I love updated looks to traditional designs.
