Oakville, Ontario, Canada I thought it might be fun to see what happens to a butterfly and
a flower design using wreathmaker. |
Oakville, Ontario, Canada I've never designed a row quilt and thought that this was the time to do so. |
I used the ON-Point Medallion #10 with blocks from

The butterfly is a symbol of life, joy and hope. It is one of my favorite elements to use in a quilt as a block, appliqué or stencil. I made this Needlecase in February 2009 for my daughter, Kim , cuz she admired the one I had made for myself. I chose this kidney shape cuz it fits around the base of an arc lamp that is in my sewing room. I printed out the templates from the quilt at 5.5' x 4.5" on to Freezer Paper so that I could cut the patches for ironing on to felt. Some of the elements from the drawn design can be eliminated before printing - the little circles which are beads and all except a couple of petals from the flower and the patches from the butterfly that I beaded instead. |
I re-drew the Butterfly Star to have a butterfly
more like the endangered Karner Blue. There is a protected area near
by, which I occasionally walk. When I do see a Karner Blue usually
it is not showing the blue side, more moth like in coloring.
