I did a search on the EQ library on diamonds and came up with this quilt using 2 diamond based blocks. I added some stars for the sparkling part...

Here also I used a block from EQlibrary and different diamonds borders.

Guildford, England

There is a beer in England called Double Diamond, so this seemed like a good name for this quilt with its gold and amber colours representing the beer and the cream almost like the "head" on the beer.

This is a quilt I designed while working through the EQ5 colour theory book. It was a chapter looking at colours relative to each other, and in the course of the exercise I created this quilt in many different colourways, but this was my favourite. I thought it fitted the "diamond challenge" rather well and might inspire others to buy the EQ5 colour book if they don't have it. It is very interesting to work through the various chapters and you learn a lot about colour in the process.

In April, the most beautiful site in Skagit County of Washington State USA are the acres of colorful tulips. Whole fields of red, purple, orange, pink, yellow and varigated fields shine into outer space. A story told here states that during WWII, Holland tulip growers shipped many tulip bulbs to Skagit County for preservation during the war. The Skagit Tulip Festival in April is a time to sniff out new varieties and colors.

I adjusted three EQ blocks by adding the center point for the tulip.

Gold & Diamonds are Forever

Using the Wedding Ring block as inspiration I drew a similar block using diamond shapes. I used the random recolour tool until I found a colour way I liked and then swapped the colours for fabrics.

If geese fly in formation, couldn't fireflies too? Maybe it's more like The Invasion of the Fireflies!

The quilt name seems to apply more to the borders than the rest of the quilt.

Grand Ronde, OR

This is pretty wild, but I doubt if I would have the patience to actually make this quilt.

Used one of the star layouts and both library blocks and newly drawn blocks. Still playing with colors.

Omaha, NE

Used a star layout and played with color placement to find a nontraditional way to color this traditional block.

The center looks like a princess cut diamond. The outer ring of green blocks remind me of emerald cut diamonds. I would like this as a table topper.

Comforting colors and a good area for fancy quilting.

This is the Mosaic block set into baby blocks setting. I colored the 'stars' bright and the ring of triangles and diamonds light so the stars would appear to lift off the quilt.

Diamonds of Ice

Genoa, NE

This is my first challenge. After drawing the star, I went through the stars on EQ and found New Star EQ4 is the basis. I had added a great deal to it, but I guess it's still not original. Obviously, the other is the Sedona Star. I simply reduced it's size and removed a few lines.

I chose 15" blocks. The inner & outer borders are 5" with the diamonds being 4". It measures 71" x 71".

4th of July they were still sending up fireworks in our little town at 1:30. I was working on this and thought: If they'd just shut their eyes, they'd surely go to sleep.

From a famous Marylin Monroe film a diamond is forever.

All blocks are from EQ6 which include...Star of Bethlehem, Four Stars 2, Starry Night, Cornucopia, Connecticut Star Variation, and Chinese Lanterns.

Keymar, MD

The block for this quilt is a variation of the block I drew for my Log Cabin Licorice Quilt Design. As I colored the blocks the diamonds looked three dimensional sitting on top of the white diamond shape lattice design.

Keymar, MD

For this challenge I decided to draw my own block and the shape just lent itself to a Log Cabin Design. I alternated the block direction so they looked like pieces of candy. The colors reminded me of red & black licorice, so the name Log Cabin Licorice seemed to fit perfectly.
