From Carol Doak's Bright Star pattern

I was working on a project for a class with Carol Doak (Simply Sensational 9-Patch Stars) and was playing with the Bright Star quilt with modifications. The colors in the fabrics reminded me of spring and flowers.

So Summery:
#67:  I really liked the large border with the busy floral center.  Really beautiful.

I found the block in the above book, it did not have a name.
Looked in Block Base also. It was listed as a Four Patch block.
If you find the name let me know.

Spring has sprung in my flower garden thanks to the luscious colors and floral designs in Megan's fabrics. I've never put so many prints together before and I must say that I love the way they look next to each other. They lift my spirits and carry me away.

So Summery:
#70: I couldn't stop looking at this quilt- what a great use of so many fabrics and the floral layout is so summery!

I really liked the quilts where the design was the same, but the choice of fabrics gave the 2 quilts completely different looks:
#71-72:  Both beautiful, but both so different.

I finally chose the orange and green colorways for this quilt. However, I also tried it in a number of different colour combinations from this fabric line -- it was difficult to just pick one.

Winnipeg, MB Canada

It was hard to choose which fabrics to use (they all go so well together) . I started by using them all but then took out a few of them to keep the file size down.

The stencils are an adaptation from an EasyDraw stencil from the EQ block library --Quilting Stencils-Curves. I didn't want the edges of the block to show so I used a PatchDraw block to make it into a motif.

If I could sew better I'd make this one:
#74:  I could never sew curves without making a mess of things but I absolutely adore this citrus colorway with it's beautiful simple shapes and layout.

I could not have imagined this:
#75:  I could not believe how many fabrics were used and how they all work in this quilt.  I had no idea that they all COULD go together like that!  I wish I could own this quilt too..it really is stunning.

When I saw the fabrics, I thought spring and handbags so I designed this fun quilt. Only Wildwood fabrics were used.

It was fun playing with these yummy colors. Every time I changed the colors around, I got a different looking quilt. Of course, I expected that, but it is still lots of fun. The block I used for the center is Hour Glass, set in an on point setting with narrow sashing. Simple to do, but complicated looking. The pieced border is an auto border, Triangular, 3-D Zigzag. I liked the large floral outer border because it gave a kind of lacy, scalloped look.

Atlanta, Georgia

This simpler quilt gives a different look, though it has exactly the same blocks as the Wildwood 1. I think the coloring of this version, especially the green squares, make the star "reach out" more than the first one, which is so neatly contained within the pink sashing. The border is plain fabric, but the pattern gives a look of pieced blocks. I think it is a sweet little quilt!

Most Whimsical:
#77:  What fun quilts- I guess the fabric is meant to be made into handbags too!

Most Whimsical:
#80- How fun would it be if men did dress this colorfully?!  This is a really fun quilt.

I love using the Lazy Angle Ruler, it makes complicated looking designs that are very easy to sew. These colors remind me of a bottle of orange pop.

Another one easy to make using the Lazy Angle Ruler.

I thought these fabrics would be well showcased in one of the irregular grids in the layout library. This quilt adds the dark olive marble to help the wildwood fabrics really sing.

A horizontal medallion layout provided the basis to showcase the large blooms of the wildwood fabrics. Simple applique added extra brightness to the centre of the layout.

Great color combination:
#81:  I never imagined these colors together, but it makes a really interesting quilt.

Really interesting quilt layout:
#84:  I really liked the multiple borders accentuating the applique

Tickle Me Pink

Original design for Erins fabric collection. Pieced basket is fromthe Eq library appropriately called Scrap Basket. The applqiue is an original design. This quilt, with a different border is actually on my design wall. The spring colors work with any bright colors. Am I going to pp or applique the sahing strips; anyone who knows me knows they'll be appliqued!

Great challenge!

Haymarket, VA

Another way to show of Erin's lush wonderful colors! My favorite is the floral in the wide outer border. This is outside my comfort zone, design wise, but sure does show off the fabrics.

The setting was from the Special Effects Library and the border is a Auto Border. Cool !

Haymarket, VA

At first I had trouble with this fabric, then added a "resting" color and the fabrics started working for me.

Beautiful Applique:
#85:  This quilt is gorgeous and the florals really pop on the white ground...I love it.

This gave me a chance to play with this pattern in colours similar to the fabrics I have for my granddaughter's quilt. Thank you for the new fabrics!

Caesura II

The "dot" fabric cried out to me to be used in nine-patch squares, and the "squares" of dots in the fabric fit exactly in a 3-inch patch. The snowball blocks seemed perfect to hightlight the large floral print. The fussy cutting tool was great to place the fabrics exactly where I wanted them.

Toronto, Canada

The fabrics suggested fairly simple blocks to me, and I thought the large floral would make a great border. I had a couple of other blocks that I tried with this border (including a simple drunkard's path), but I had to cut my quilts down to two. I wanted to submit something in this colourway, and the large floral that I liked with the drunkard's path quilt was the orange one, so in the end, this quilt won the choice.

Toronto, Canada

Caesura is a pause or a stop in verse or music.

I designed this quilt to be completely made with half square triangle blocks cut in half through the seam.
