I live in the end building of an apartment complex. I can watch the groundskeepers putting in the flower beds along the public road. Every year all the little flowers are in rows. (Please imagine petunias and marigolds.)

I enjoy looking at flowers, but I can't keep plants alive. This is the way the flowers would start to look in my garden after a while. If I had a garden! :-) Please note the "weeds" I put inbetween.

I used a medallion layout with floral applique and pieced blocks around the center bird applique.

I'm hoping Flying Geese count as birds. The flowers were no problem.

When the challenge is Birds and or Flowers go for a Flower that is named Bird.

This is a variation BOP block, I created, by making the center 4-patch smaller, which made the points longer.

Beavercreek, OH

Since I'm looking forward to having these little guys back at my house this year, it seems appropriate to draw this. I've only recently started to "play" with patchdraw but it really was fun and quick.

Ridgefield, NJ

4 Peacock Feather blocks form the center which is surrounded by a grid of Cross Roads blocks appliqued on Layer 2 with birds created in PatchDraw by modifying a motif from the EQ Applique Blocks library.

Ridgefield, NJ

Horizontal layout in greens, yellows and blues : Center formed by Tulip Basket blocks surrounded by Cut Glass Dish blocks.
Borders include a 1" mitered frame around center, 9" Green & Yellow Charm Basket blocks filled with floral fabric with Tulip Block corners, and a row of Saw Tooth with Outer Borders blocks.

Birds and Flowers

Birds and flowers? Why not both!

This challenge gave me lots of practice tracing a photo and using the thread tool.

Flamingo's and dancing are a favorites of a very dear friend of mine. These two "birds" seem to be ready to boogie the night away.

I used a Quilt layout from the Library.

This was actually made for my grandaughter, in recyled denim from her and her sisters, for high

The Twining Morning Glories and trellis are original designs. The other components are from EQ5 with a few modifications.

Superb Blue Wren and Natives

The superb blue wren or fairy wren is my favourite bird, so it was natural that I would use it here. Since I am an Aussie, I felt a native flower would be appropriate, so I have included eucalyptus or gum leaves and flowers.
