February 2008 Challenge: Jelly Rolls! (Page 3)
Design a quilt that will use 2½" strips. The "Jelly Rolls" that are being sold in quilt stores right now are 2½" strips of many fabrics. Strip them, slice them, dice them, piece them, appliqué them! Templates for this quilt must fit on the 2½" strip, though you may choose to strip piece (made fabric stripes) some patches.

This is pieced in strip sets of four strips graduating from dark to light, cut into blocks, and then cut into half square triangles. Note that each finished light/ dark square is a mirror image of the one beside it. |
This is made of strip sets of 2 strips, one light and one dark and then pieced as a half log cabin. |
South Yorkshire, UK I have begun adding jelly rolls to my stash and enjoyed designing quilt ideas with them in mind! There are two designs for your to enjoy! |
This quilt represents the traditional layout for this block which creates braids in columns. I wanted to try and represent the braid block in the layout and have plans to make a similar braid quilt with one of my jelly rolls. If I were to make this quilt using jelly roll fabrics, I would sew a braid block like the one on Quilters Cache. Enjoy! |

I have a Jelly Roll that I have been try
to come up with something to with it. Maybe this is it. Do not know
if I would have enough for the striped border. |
Beavercreek, OH I drafted up an "Easier Lonestar" pattern for some online friends. Since this one is made with HSTs rather than diamonds, it is easy to make and perfect for a jelly roll :D |

I started with the other quilt and just
"waved the wand" to randomize the coloring of that quilt.
The lights swapped with the darks and produced this unusual coloring
that I NEVER would have selected, but I will seriously consider making
this quilt. What fun, EQ6! |

Maryland I love the woven look of the chains. I chose yellows and purples, which remind me my pansies, and the black background is the winter dreariness. The pansies are just waiting for the spring thaw, and their color bursts through the darkness! |
