August 2007 Challenge: One Patch! (Page 2)

Design a quilt with any of the styles for a One Patch layout. You may color it as a charm quilt or a mosaic design. Or combine the one-patch with blocks set on Layer 2. Be creative with using this layout!

The Trapezoid (V) provided the shape for the fish bodies and the head, tail and fins are appliqued.

Using the Kite patch I created mountains with a tree line. To soften the water's edge I created boulders, then added a cabin, dock and boat.

When the broadcast TV stations "disappear," there's a grid in red-green-blue that appears on the screen. This quilt design is my interpetation of the grid that replaces my favorite TV programs.

It was much easier to colour this with the new colour tools.

I had a lot of fun with the colouring tools and tried to make a bargello look with many of the one patch layouts.
It would look much better with designer fabrics.

Cazy Fabric Collection

I saw this little girl in the block library and decided she needed some flowers to water!

This is an original design created in EQ6 using several applique blocks on a one patch background.

Pittsburgh, PA

Made my own custom patch - page 160. It looked like fish net. What a nice tool that Freehand Brush was to paint the patches! Put some fish & seagrass from the Block library - Motifs - Fish - in Layer 2. I like the look of the quilt. Would I ever make it? Not with 931 patches! But it could be printed on fabric, giving the illusion that it was a quilt. Hmm Or a Fabric Postcard.

I see the Bug collection quilts, why not make one of Fabric, much more fun and they do not fly or crawl. Also, you can play with all the quilt designs.

Marbles are looking always so nice. Let's play together.

This mosaic quilt was designed with fabric from the Avlyn Collection "Sahara". I continued the African theme with the Embroidered Palm Trees, Palm Waves and Mask.

Keymar, MD

This quilt was made with fabric from the Avlyn Collection "Crimson Blues". It is comprised of a center contructed with all triangles and an added border of Big & Little Points Out. The burgundy embroidered hearts in the border are set on a basket of triangles.

When I saw this layer, I wanted to do a rainbow and at the same time, I am doing some cat sitting for a friend, so this is the quilt! (flowers and cat are from the EQ6 library).
Cheers from France!

With this triangle layer, I thought right away about fir trees. I added some leaves from the library to give a painting look.
Cheers from France!

This small table runner 22 1/4 by 14 3/4 was inspired by a full size quilt made by a friend. I plan to do English Paper Piecing and fusible appliqué.

I like the look of applique on a pieced quilt

I changed the simple design of the first quilt to where the stars are touching. I also changed the wreaths of flowers to be a variety and added a bouquet in the lower corner.

My first challange, first time to use the one patch in a project. What a fun experience. I am patriotic, love to use color, am more contemporary in my projects and think of myself as mroe of an fabric artist then a quilter. I am learning and loving EQ.

These colors look like "happy" to me. I love to mix colors and I am more contemporary in my quilting, virtual as well as on fabric. This is a first for me using the one patch and first to enter a challange. Have been quilting 8-10 years, paper piecing is my thing.

I tried Andrea's trick of using GIF picture files and added the witch and castle. If I were doing this for real, I would make these as applique pieces. This project was a lot of fun. The all batik fabric version turned out really well. I will probably use that version in a future quilt.
