March 2006 Challenge: Clocks! (Page 3)
"Design a clock. It could be for a quilt or for some other completely different medium. It could be for a real project or one that is completely fantasy." - Barb Vlack

I used the quilt block "Lowey" from the EQ block library - Contemporary Pieced: Prairie Style. The numbers I traced using the Braggadocio Font. The border blocks are from one corner of the central quilt block "Lowey". Winnipeg, MB Canada |

This drawing of the clock along with the table and lamp was made as an exercise in perspective and patience. My patience and time ran out before the clock face got real Roman numerals! Victoria, BC |
I wanted to create something a bit different then just a standard clock. So I decided to use blocks for the numbers. Then I wanted to use symbols for each month. To do this I typed in things that made me think of each month. For example, for January I did a search on Snow, for May I conducted a search on flowers. You get the idea. This was a lot of fun. Thanks Barbara. |
The celtic knotwork is created from a font called "DS Celtic Border" (available at http://www.geocities.com/ TimesSquare/4948/index.html) and the numerals are from the font "Unciala". I'm hoping to create a palette of the wood images, and if I do I'll post it on my blog. South Bend, IN |

The fence block is from EQ, all the others I created myself. The witch against the moon and the bats I found somewhere on-line, the pumpkin came from a Dover collection. The numerals on the clock tower are "Headhunter" (I'm almost done with the whole alphabet and will be posting it on my blog when I finish it).. South Bend, IN |

I used Horizontal Center Medallion layout #3 from the Layout Library, Basics by Style. The smaller EQ letters on the clock were done with Wreathmaker. To get the larger lettering around the clock, I created it first in CorelDraw and then imported it to trace as a motif in PatchDraw. Shinnston, WV |

In 2005 I designed a quilt titled "The Watcher" (see the watcher's eyes in the top center of the quilt) with a ying yang symbol where the clock is now. I also used quilting to represent the trees and animals rather than using applique as in this quilt. I traced the animals and trees from a piece of fabric that I had scanned. I used custom set for this quilt because the watcher contains 6 different sizes of blocks. Delhi, CA |
