I used the Nine Patch Star block in the Special Effects - 9 layout. The structure of the layout is obscured and there are many opportunities to color secondary designs.

I used the Special Effects - 5 layout, which resembles the Friendship Link block from the 30s. I liked blending colors for a transparent look in the border.

Blocks used are the Spring Beauty and Paducah Peony. I used the Special Effects 11 Quilt Layout. Then I experimented with colors to get the transparency effects.

Blocks used are a Sugar Bowl and a redrawn version of a glorified 9-patch. I used the Special Effects 4 quilt layout.

Although the layout shows more clearly in this one, I think it is a fun look. Not sure I'd want to piece it, however!

I liked the way this block looked in this layout. I did some block rotation to get the effects I wanted on where the blocks joined.

I was intrigued by the plain shapes that appeared when I put this block in Special Effects layout 9. I see small blue planes headed toward each other while large red ones swirl around the coners. Lots of possibilities.

I thought it was fun using both this block full of movement and the Special effects layout # 9, twisting and turning the block.

I had first colored the blocks with a lot of great batiks, but the file size turned out to be huge.

This is Special Effects Layout #11 with classic Log Cabin and Courthouse Steps (or Log Cabin 2) blocks.

I like the balance achieved by dropping well-known standard blocks into unusual settings.

I really like the way this quilt has a random look. It might work well with other quilts that need a random placement. I plan on trying it with other block patterns.

I tried to design a quilt that was doable.
I just got the Angle Play CD and am
having fun with the very different blocks.

Angle Play has an excellent collection of Layout Library quilts to chose from.
Besides all of the blocks and fabrics.
I am finding that I had to be careful when
using the fabrics from Angle Play. Personally I have to really study the blocks when choosing fabrics.
I thought I was using fabrics that were complimentary but then when I put them into a quilt they weren't pleasing to the eye.
So this is a challenge, but, it's a good kind of challenge. I think I really need the book..

I used the Special Effects - 3 and filled it with the Carrie Nation Quilt block.

The colours remind me of the sea and the movement remionds me of the wind, hence the name.

I used the Special Effects - 11 and filled it with the Lattice Square block.

It's meant to look like a lattice window. I like this one so much, I think I might actually make it one day. Like I need another project LOL!
