Judee
Judee's Numbers

This quilt would be fun for a small child learning numbers and colors. I used the wreathmaker to create the motifs and then colored them with brights.
I used my first inital to make the "J" motifs to personalize it.

Christmas Tablecloth 68x68

I used the On-Pointe Medallion 2 setting in the Layout Library, resized by 1/2, added 3 borders. The applique was done by creating designs with english paper piecing shapes. I use this method often, it makes my applique very nice. I drew an elongated hexagon & added 3 regular hexagons. I then rotated, resized & used wreathmaker for the center.

Waffle Garden 68x68

Again, I used the On-Pointe Medallion 2 from the layout library. I selected the poppies block for a central focus. The wavy borders is from the Wavy Lines stencil from the library. I eliminated the center line to color the border. Although it is actually an easy draw block, I would print the template to create my shape to applique the top & bottom mauves to the lightest background. I would cut out the full length of the border after using the template to mark the curves, then I would machine baste the piece to the background to hold in place while I hand applique. Very relaxing!

Ring Around the Rosie

I wanted to do an on-point quilt and instead of making long borders I chose to make just corner borders.

Wattle Blossom Time

It's almost spring, and the native scrub in my area is starting to 'glow' with the yellow flowers of the wattle trees. The four different species in my garden are also bursting forth in flower. The flower colours range from pale lemon yellow, to dark rich gold.

Faded Red and Green

I repeated elements of the center block for an applique border in the corners outside of the block on point. I used darker colors in each background from the center out to make the center most important, I also repeated the circles in the block by using fabrics with dots.

Buds & Bouquets

I know the challenge said applique but, for the most part, I don't do applique so my viney border is pieced. I originally designed this paper-pieced border bud for a round robin. The block in the quilt is Picnic Bouquet from the EQ library.

My Sister's Rose Garden

I just happend to be working through Patti Anderson's lesson on drawing a Seven Sisters block when this challenge came up, so I decided to do something with what I learned and added an applique rose border and scalloped edge to this quilt.

Dover Two

These two quilts were traced from the Dover Publications book. "Spanish Tile Designs in Full Color" selected and arranged by Carol Grafton. As with all of Dover's publications, the designs are copyright-free. This was a great exercise in using the EQ5's tools for tracing. All of the blocks were traced from bmps imported into the Overlaid Block Drawing board.

Sisters 1

The first memory quilt for my older granddaughters. Here I have used the sister's choice block for the quilt. The real wall hanging has photos from birth to High School graduation of the older girl. It would make the file too big to incorporate the photos.
I adapted the vine motif and the rose motif from the library, because Joy's birthday is in June - and the rose is her flower.

Sisters 2

Our second granddaughter's birthday is in July so I have been trying to make an applique border using Larkspurs. I tried tracing from photos taken at the Flower Show but these proved to be too difficult for applique. I was able to draw these stylised flowers that I found in an embroidery pattern, There are two motifs that I adjusted to meet. The top and bottom borders are meant to be scattered flowers.
Ev is a senior this year so I will soon have all the necessary photos for the center section. I have used the sister's choice block for this file.

Blueberry

I began with an easy traditional block, then played with the borders. I liked a flowing vine and floral border with this blue and green version.

August Star Quilt

This was an easy and fun quilt to do. I used the EQ Compass Star for the body of the quilt. The border was designed using the PatchDraw shapes. It took about an hour to design the quilt.

Zig-Zag

This is one of the first quilts that I have designed on EQ5. I have had the program for a long time, but only used it to print blocks. The border is my orginial design.
The vertical border is not as large as the hortizonal, but I spend 6 hours designing this simple quilt. Thank goodness for the help menu. So for now the borders will be of unequal sizes.

When do you know when to stop swaping all the fabrics around? At I thought I was done, then I had all the flowers in the border the same, but just could not stop, had to mix the flowers up a little.
