Club EQ Album: July 2005 Challenge: Two Colorways! Page 6

Design one quilt in two very different colorways for the same quilt. Change only the fabrics. You may change color and value placements, but don't change the overall quilt. Just offer two ways to look at one design. For this challenge, you will be allowed to submit up to 2 quilts total.

Ship in the Dessert

This version of the Lost Ship block quilt has a more Southwest feel to me with its warm sunny yellow - oranges contrasting againt the bright bold blue. The border gives it an almost 3-D effect - as if mounted on a backing or in a picture frame.

Black&White&Red All Over

Both quilts use only the Lost Ship block and the same style borders, in different color palettes. This version is in black, white, silver and red and has quite a different feel from the 1st version.

Winding Rose

Block is Winding Ways. This is a very pleasant (at least to me!) coloration. I think I could actually make this into a cute wallhanging.

Winding Maze

This is also the Winding Ways block but its hard to tell that its the same block as the Winding Rose design. Though I like the colors, I don't think I would ever make this into a real quilt...

1904 Star block I took apart and wrote instructions for a mystery quilt for a quilters retreat I attended. The star was dissected into 4" blocks and put together following a graph.

California Tumbler

My two blocks are Road to California & Tumbling Star. I left the star out of the center & with different fabrics it looks like a butterfly instead.

Stars to California

I used Tumbling Stars & Road to California from the EQ 5 blocks. I wanted the stars to show in the middle of each tumbler in this quilt.
