Club EQ Album: June 2005 Challenge: Altered Blocks! Page 14

Take a block from the EQ Block Library. Consider ways that parts of that block could be used to create two different blocks. In other words, delete units from one block to create something new. Use those deleted units to create a second block. You can do this with the block on the block drawing worktable. For the first round, delete lines that make units in the block. Save to the Sketchbook. Then recall the same block to the drawing worktable and delete the lines you saved the first time but keep the ones you deleted the first time. You should have two coordinating blocks to use to design a two- or three-block quilt.

For this challenge, you will be allowed to submit up to 2 quilts total.

My first challenge. This is my favorite version. I may even have to make it in fabric!

This is my first EQ5 challenge....it took me awhile to figure out exactly how to do this, but it's amazing how much we can change blocks and make them our own....I'm anxious to see everyone else's creations.

Altered Mosaics

This is another mosaics block that I altered for the challenge. Mosaics number 6 I believe it was. I simply deleted one line in each block. I also altered Delectable Mountains by just using half of the block to make the border.

Mosaic Madness

Two versions of Mosaic 4 are alternated in this quilt. Then I just did a half square triangle for the border as there are several used in this block.

Altered Quilt

I started with the Pole star block from the library, deleting the outside to leave the double center star. For the second block I deleted the center star and added a motif.
