Club EQ Album: March/April 2005 Challenge: Hide the Block! Page 4 Take a block, color
it, and set it into a horizontal set quilt with a 3x3 or 4x4 layout. (This
is the "before.") Then create a second quilt with the same block,
same layout, and change the color in such a way that you lose track of
the original block. (This is the "after.") This is a great exercise
in coloring secondary designs, creating transparencies, or using traditional
blocks with non traditional color combinations. This challenge was suggested
by Jane Jacobson (aka ForestJane), and it is a fun one to create! -Barb Vlack |

Betty Woerner I'm sure that I took this design from one of my EQ products, but when I went looking for it to see what the design was named, I couldn't find it. SENIOR moment. This was really fun to play with and I had a hard time deciding which design to send before I re-read the rules and changed the fabrics to plain. I love using the batiks. Port St. Lucie FL |
Betty Woerner I changed the corner triangles from dark to light so that the block would stand out. Port St. Lucie FL |

Laurie Hopman Same Judy Martin block as the other, called Lake Superior (c)2000 that I saw on her website, and same setting with sashing. This time it feels like peeking through the fence and trellises into a garden on a rainy day. |
Laurie Hopman Block is called Lake Superior by Judy Martin (c)2000 that I saw as BOM on her website and drew out. She suggested "tranquil forest, lake and sand hues"but I guess I was in a different mood. I set it with sashing as her example suggested and still got a very interesting effect with different coloring.

Liz Nix The block is from the EQ Library and is a variation of the 2 color of the block. I think it looks like a piece of lattice. Jesup, GA. |
