Slashed Stars

This is based on stack and slash techniques to create stars, with odd sashings of plain blue to fill the balnk areas.

Linda Cipressy
Log Cabin Star

I had seen this log cabin configuration used many times and it was the first time I used EQ5 to help me figure out how it was done. I actually made a version of this in cloth for one of my neighbors; she loved it.

Orange You Glad We Have Stars?

I like this central block, but I haven't made a real quilt with it yet. Haven't done the sashing making stars either.

Stars Challenge

The main focus of the quilt I submitted is not stars, they are the "backdrop". A very dear friend of mine asked me to draft a pattern for her using a picture of her church. She and her daughter wanted to make an autograph quilt for their preacher. They brought me a photo and I imported it in EQ and traced it. The resulting quilt was absolutely beautiful. One day soon, I hope to get a picture of it up on a website so I can share that with all of you, too.(I got my friends permission). They made star autograph blocks, then brought them to me and had me machine embroider the names of the church families on them. I was so proud to be a part of this project! The preachers wife told them no one had ever given her a quilt before. That really made me wish I'd been there when they presented it to them!

Anyway, I was so proud of this project that I had to share it and since the autograph blocks were stars, I thought it qualified! I sure enjoy particpating in the challenges.

Texas Celebration!

This month I based my design on Barb Vlack's Stars-27 layout and just had fun playing with fabric, especially Kaleidoscope by Hoffman. Such movement!
