Club EQ Album: August 2004 Challenge: Nature! Page 1
Use a leaf block
somewhere in your quilt. Choose any leaf block design from the EQ5
Block Library or one you have designed
yourself. Set it into a quilt and design with it or around it. |

Barb Vlack One basic leaf block, several variations with skewing the block and redrawing it. I recommend viewing without patch or block outlines. Created with the vertical strip quilt layout style. St. Charles, Illinois USA

work of Kumiko Sudo, I can imagine what this piece would look like with

Anna-Edith Da jeg læste denne måneds udfordring, kom
jeg til at tænke på et silkebilled min mor i sin tid lavede,
med årstidernes løv. |

Barbara Gilstad Memories of growing
up in Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Thanks for stimulating my imagination,
Anna. And thank you for posting Nature in general and leaf blocks in
particular for this month's Club EQ Challenge, Barb Vlack. As far as
I'm concerned, you couldn't have picked anything more appropriate for
this time of year when Labor Day is just around the corner and children
are returning to school. |

Daphne Stewart Barb asked for leaf
blocks so this quilt has three applique blocks. I also had great fun
using the leaves as motifs. My husband (the same man who tried to get
me to draw a roasted pig for the Hawaiian challenge) says I should add
three 'X''s to the planter pot because it looks to him like a moonshine
jug. This man is a great help to me ...
|
Daphne Stewart Call out the challenge police: Barb said "Use a leaf block somewhere in your quilt" and this is a one-leaf quilt made of blocks of fabric instead. The last time I deliberately misconstrued the challenge rules, snow was deep here. It seems to be time for another little fling. Sunnyside, Washington |

Dottie Richey I envision this in hand-dyed wool, appliqued to a softly
mottled silk matka or woolen background. I drew the "grapevine"
wreath a few years ago and now I have added the leaf motifs from the
EQ library. Atlanta, Georgia |
