Willow

An original design inspired by Japanese family crests. Althought the willow is a frequently used symbol in Japanese art, it was not used as a family crest figure.

I live near the Fox River, so I have a collection of foxes! I would love to have a fox weathervane on top of my house.

I love to use a block name to help illustrate a wallhanging such as this!

Curvilinear Device with Zing

The applique was inspired by calligraphic flourishes in a book I was reading. The background is a horizontal trapezoid One-Patch layout. Sunnyside, Washington

Vehicle with Two Wheels Tandem

Webster's Dictionary has a rather sober description of such a joyful machine. But accurate! My secondary challenge was to draw my biker in one continuous line. The background block is "Emerging Star" from EQ's library. Daphne Stewart Sunnyside, Washington

Cat and Mice

The background uses two "cat and mouse" block from Block Base 2 alternated together. The cat silouette comes from EQ. I designed the mouse motif in EQ because I couldn't find one the suited me. Arlington, Tx.

Good Morning, Sunshine!

This quilt was designed with EQ5's block & motif. How bright and cheerful to see the rooster every morning!

Birds of a Feather

For the Silhouette Challenge I selected blocks from Birds/Motifs in the EQ library. After setting them on Layer 2, I colored the backgrounds on layer 1 and then recolored the birds on Layer 2. It was easy to use EQs border tools to design the diamond borders to fit proportionally Janice Kreuzinger, Florida

Merry Endres
Cat-a-combs

Catacombs are underground cemeteries consisting of subterranean galleries with recesses for tombs. These kitties find them an appropriate place to house their store of fish bones. I think this quilt is best viewed by removing the block and patch outlines. The quilt blocks in the lower portion of the quilt seem to 'morph' into ancient stones.

When the Iris Bloom

Actually the real title will be "When the Iris bloom I will know it is finally spring" The center of the crazy patch is an Iris. This is an actual top waiting to be quilted. I had planned to hand applique an Iris in its true colors of purple; but, now that I see the flower as a silhouette, I might just try that. This is an original - not from a pattern of any kind. The Iris block is from the EQ library with just a little bid of adjustment. Barbara Hamrin Falmouth, MA

Cat Chain

It reminds me of my cat sitting on the windowsill. This would probably be even better as a smaller wall sized quilt.

I've wanted to do a patriotic quilt for awhile, so I've been working on a few different variations on this theme. So far, this is my favorite.

Catching Butterflies

I used colour grading to colour the background blocks, which represent my garen in mid-summer. My cat loves catching butterflies but fortunately she isn't as good as she used to be. These days she just sits and watches them. The cat and butterflies are appliqued on to layer 2. My name is Jane Hilary Parker. I live in Paignton, Devon, UK

Semlak

This quilt represents my great grandparents who were Germans and lived in Southern Hungary in a village named Semlak. After WWI, the borders changed and the village became part of Romania. After WWII, the Germans were forced to leave. To this day, chickens and geese run around free. It is an area where wheat is grown. I have my great grandfather's shirt that is embroidered in red.
