Shhh! They're Sleeping (or Supposed to Be)

Designed for clubEQ, March, 2004, challenge: Thirty-five 4-Patch blocks.
Celebrate 35 years of the NQA and join their challenge: 35 years in '04.

The heads of these little babies were edited off of blocks from the EQ5 Block Library: 5 Contemporary Applique/Children.
Most of the "blanket" blocks are from the EQ5 Block Library/1 Classic Pieced/Four Patch; some are from BlockBase 2.

My book, EQ5 Quilt Design, details how to design a similar quilt with Teddy Bears.

Windmills for an Anniversary

Designed for clubEQ, March, 2004, challenge: Thirty-five 4-Patch blocks.
Celebrate 35 years of the NQA and join their challenge: 35 years in '04.

The "Windmill" 4-patch block was colored asymmetrically on the diagonal so that the block could be rotated with the Symmetry tool to get a secondary design. What a scrapbag quilt! I think it's also a great way to commemorate an anniversary.

Celebration

I started out with a five-pointed star and put a 4-patch in each arm of the star so that made five 4-patches. Then I needed a setting with seven blocks to get a total of (35) 4-patch blocks.

Arkansas I love this quilt! I only wish I had thought this up myself; but I didn't. It appeared in the latest issue of Quiltmaker magazine and the designer's name is Avon Leekey.

Ya Think I Like Blue????

I used 35 different blocks from the EQ, and block base libraries. I love the color blue and USA, so had to include the American Flag in here somewhere, so the only logical place was right smack dab in the center of the quilt. OOPS! I forgot to color in the borders! grrrrrrrrrr Guess you will just have to see a second quilt with the borders done. ENJOY! Betsy

Thirty Five Four-Patch Tulip Baskets

Winnipeg, MB Canada I started with the Tulip Basket block from BlockBase - #692 (Nancy Cabot 5/25/33), and added the square on point to the middle of the basket. Then I drew the Four-Patch blocks in this square. I flipped some of the tulip appliques to provide a little bit of variety. ***March 2004 Challenge: Thirty-five Four Patches! Amble in Green

I'm not sure why some of these blocks are considered four patches, but they were in EQ's Four Patch section, so I'm not arguing. This quilt was fun to make in many colorways, but I'm thinking green for spring. Daphne Stewart Sunnyside, Washington

Not a Four-Patch More, Not a Four-Patch Less
I thought I was being very clever, using the four-patch "Temple Court" as layer one in Custom Set. After it was finished, I discovered that 'Star 34' in the layout library is very similar and would have been much simpler to use. But we learn by doing. Daphne Stewart Sunnyside, Washington
