Club EQ Album: January 2004 Challenge: Two Blocker! Page 6

Two Blocker. Use two different blocks (from the EQ Block Library or ones you've drawn yourself and are willing to share), and create a quilt that shows how these two blocks blend into each other. Lines that appear to connect from one block to the next will be more apparent if you do not use sashing in the layout.

When I tried Curling Ribbon and Bow Tie side by side, the result doesn't look a bit like either one of them.

Found that 2 simple blocks work best for this challenge.

This is another quilt made from the same two blocks--School Girl's Puzzle and Drunkard's Path. I solved the diagonal drift issue by setting the blocks on point and this design seemed to take on a Native American feel. Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

Connected

Made from a combination of School Girl's Puzzle and a variation of Drunkard's Path. I am not happy with the diagonal drift of this quilt, but the pattern has possibilties. Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

This is another simple alternating block quilt. But since one has only one axis of symmetry, and the other is completely asymetrical, (or a glide and rotated symmetry), they offer lots of possibilities. I chose the simplest to show.

A simple alternating block quilt, made of two edited blocks from the EQ5 Library. I like the overlapping circles effect.

Bear's Paw and (PB - Lines)

For my second design I used the Bear's Paw block again as well as the same 5 x 5 block layout. But this time, instead of adding more lines to make the second block, I removed some of the lines in the Bear's Paw block to make another new block. What a difference a few less lines can make! And then once again I "played" with a variety of fabrics and colors until this combination touched my heart and soul.

Bear's Paw and (BP + Lines)

I selected Bear's Paw for my first block and then added a few lines to it to create a new block for my simple 5 x 5 block layout. Doesn't black make the luscious colors in the fabric POP? Barbara
