Sherry
Coté This tesselation reminds me of a school of fish with their mouths open. I created the initial figure in TESS, a free download from http://www.peda.com/ I saved the TESS figure as a bitmap and imported it into EQ and traced it in PatchDraw. After the initial tracing it did take some tweaking to get the curves and spikes to match more closely than they did after the initial tracing. I then used the PatchDraw tools to add the eye and fin before working with the figure in Custom Set. wecycle@telis.org

Carolyn Laukkonen This block reminds me of a jigsaw puzzle, hence the name. This colour scheme uses fabrics from the "Berry Colors" palette. carolyn@piecepatcher.com

Deb L. This was inspired by the Jinny Beyer book on tessellations & is based on a square shape for the starting block. I am currently working on a triangle shape as the basis for the next tessellation design. This is a challenge which I found very enjoyable! High River, Alberta |

Jean J. This challenge really stretched me. I know how to do tessellations with pencil and paper, but this made me think in a different way. riverhold@tiscali.co.uk |

Dorothy Atkinson I used the same
block for both quilts just to see what would happen. The song "Gonna
Have A Party" kept on running though my head as I merrily played
with shaped and colours. When I looked at all of these colours it reminded
me of the balloons that are placed at the end of a driveway when there
is a birthday party for a child, telling the world that this is a special
day for some small person. Lafontaine, ON,

Charlotte Kleiner When I looked at my computer screen with the blocks set in this layout it just seemed to "say" - CARPET, so I made some tassels to place on each end. Winnipeg, MB Canada |
Charlotte Kleiner I started out by colouring the top row in a light colour and increased each row in value. Then I mixed up the order in each column and it started to look like water moving and the shape of a duck became more pronounced, so I coloured some of the blocks yellow for the "ducks" .
