Based on hexagonals with offset centres.
Hexagonal drawn in PatchDraw, then triangular segments added. Mostly one colouring, but centre segments re-coloured for symmetry.

Godzilla Walking thru Cardinals

The green version of this reminded me of lizard tracks going up and the red version looked like cardinals going down, hence the name.

Arlene Bauman
Starfish Family Reunion

This design started when I saw a quilt called Intertwined Ribbons by Joann J (quiltsis2001@yahoo.com) on the Designing with Curves EQ challenge.
After playing with the block and removing some lines, I used a line-only version and set it into a quilt to see if anything else would "pop out" for me. Suddenly I realized that the block tessellated so I just had to color it for this month's challenge!

The Argument

This challenge was trickier to find something I liked. I wish I had had more time this month to play - because what fun!

Ethel Mecklem
Star Flowers

The block for this quilt is one that I drew in Patchdraw specifically for this challenge.
It was fun playing with it and seeing all the different ways it went together by using the symmetry tool. It is very interesting to see what different colorings will do with the same block. This was a fun challenge.

Windmill Oddities

This design is from another original block that I drew in Easy Draw for this challenge.
The border is one I received from participating in the Swag Swap that Dawsie had a couple of years ago. There was nothing on the notecard to tell me who designed it, but I thought it added a little softness to the angular looks of this design.

Halloween Night

This coloring was just too tempting given the proximity of the holiday. It sure showed me how different the same pattern can be with just a little tweak of color and border!

Dancing Angels

Block first drawn in EasyDraw and traced into Patchdraw as a motif, set with custom set. This was my first coloring; made me think of angels dancing among the stars on a clear winter night.

tessellation#1

I've been trying to both hand-piece and draw this block in EQ for at least 7 years. Thanks to Fran G.'s custom set class, I've finally gotten pretty close. I still can't get the shape exactly symmetric though, no matter how I do it. Still, I'm happy!

tesselation#2

This is an attempt to make a curved tessellation. Not a very attractive design and certainly not one I'd ever make but it was fun to play with.

The Slide

I used the One Patch Layout. Then I selected "Custom (Glide) and move the lines around until I had a design I liked.
Next, I removed all of the borders from the quilt.

This I could play with for hours.

Off Side Stars

I used the One Patch Quilt Layout. Selected the Patch Style to Hexagon. Next I set the Unit Numbers to: Horizontal to 10 and the Vertical to 8.

Lastly I move the guide lines to a design I liked. I did not want my stars to be boxy so I over center the lines.

Pretty color and I did not have to draw a thing.

Blowing in the Wind

This tesselation is based on an equilateral triangle, which was transformed on all three sides. The basic unit was constructed in Easy Draw, then traced in Patch Draw and made into a motif. The motifs were arranged in hexagonal formation, then placed on a custom quilt layout. It was hard! It was fun!

Falling Leaves

This month was really challenging. Although I had a number of patterns I had trouble with some getting all lines to connect. This design was sort of an "accident", coming from another design which just wouldn't work. Good things can come from mistakes.

Mary Allenspach
Robbie Potter Quilt

This quilt was inspired by my nephew in a Harry Potter contest. It took a long time to draw the block, even after I figured out what I wanted to do. The block is not perfect and had to be custom set to get the correct overlap. To sew this, I would iron on the pieces and outline them in black thread.

Final Effort

Not sure this is a true tessalation, but didn't care for my boring efforts in C&P with Patchdraw. This block works well in just two or three colors also. Best way to recolor is to use swap tool, change everything to different solids, then use fabrics.
