Stars and Bouquets

Using Star Layout 23 I set a 16 patch in the middle eight pointed star. Surrounded them with a Nose Gay block. The color placement is what makes the many layers of stars. I love using a smaller block from the quilt in my borders, sometimes I use them in the entire border but most of the time I place them in the corners like I did with this quilt. My daughter loves this design and I think this one may actually be made.

Flutterbye Cross

Star-23 with a border of big and little points out.

Had to use a different Star than I used last month - just to Challenge me a little. There is a difference between Star 13 and 23, slight, the "corner blocks" are smaller for one.

Flutterbye Block, I got from a magazine. Not sure which one nor from when. I kept the name for that reason. It might not even be recognizable it in this form.

Star-23 with a border of big and little points in.

Was not sure I liked the other colors, tried using the Dried Flower Palette (some). Still playing with the colors, a lot easier in EQ than in fabric.

Rory Kirby
Imperial Star of Daisy

This quilt is based on Star 28, with the Daisy Star and Blogg's Deception, my original Block first used in quilt 23 in the March 2003 Challenge. The Bloggs Deception block is shown at the corners of the quilt. The design provides interesting depths by using the asymmetrical Bloggs Deception block. Plain colours were used to avoid the patterns distracting the geometry.

This was so much fun! I just started trying out different blocks. When I put in the log cabin-like block, 7's, all I could say was Wow!

Economy Star

I started with a star layout in the layout libraries. The block I used was called the Economy Patch. I just placed that block into the whole quilt. Then I played around with the coloring of the blocks. This quilt could easily be paper pieced.

I used Star 1 layout and I enjoyed the effect one gets just using traditional blocks from the block library. And using paper foundation piecing there is no problem making the blocks.

Paper piecing is the only way to go on this quilt. I actually made a wall hanging of it.
When I would reverse a diamond block to print a paper piecing pattern, it would print it as the other diamond! Strange!
Asymetrical blocks give some very interesting designs using these stars.
