Club EQ Album: March 2003 Challenge: Let's build up the User Library! Page 6

"We can never have too many blocks. Submit two copyright free blocks, preferably ones you designed, that are not presently in the EQ5 Block Library or in any EQ product. You may demonstrate how to use them in a quilt, but you don't have to. Submitting the two blocks will be terrific. Any kind of block is eligible. Please put a note on the Notecard to identify you as the designer and tell us something about why you designed this particular block."

Bows
Arrows

I designed this block during Fran Gonzales' Easy Draw class at Quilt University. We were analyzing block designs, and I really liked 5x5 grids, so I started playing with them, and this was one of my results.

Background star

Making an on-point quilt using an 8 point star, 15" block, alternating with plain blocks there was too much empty space. I started designing stars based on the original to fill in. This was a reject for the project, but I intend to use it in another quilt. (The final choice fill in block looks boring on its own, its just two diamond shapes across the block, but on-point, set on the diagonal blocks of the quilt it looks great)

This is my karneval Block / Quilt Project for the opening ceremony of our EQ Club Saarland, Germany in Januar 2003. 10 EQ Fans were present and we had a Polish snacks I have prepared.

The other block is my first attempt with tesselations after the class with Jenny Beyer in Fellbach, Germany, May 2002.

Pine Bear is the first block I designed in EQ3 back in 1998.

Wild Rose Wreath
Daisy Chain

I enjoy applique, and wanted to tryout the wreathmaker feature in EQ. The two blocks in the challenge were created from single motif blocks available in the EQ library.
