"Your intention as to whether this label will be pieced, appliquéd, or simply printed out onto fabric is up to you."

Basket Mania Label 2

label: "Basket Mania Original basket blocks inspired by Quilted Closet's heirloom baskets and classic pieced quilt blocks. Label and blocks designed January 2003 for EQ Club Challenge and to begin to fulfill one of this year's Quilty resolutions (to make a basket quilt. determined after seeing appealing basket and tree of life quilts at 2002 Sisters, OR Quilt Show). Terry M. Haley DeVine (TMHD)"

This block made a natural frame. Label is sized at 3 inches square. I would probably print this though appliqued border with label pieced in or also appliqued would be possible. I like the printed block outlines and would possibly embellish with buttonhole stitch. Challenge on this one was to learn more about nudging and setting preferences so that label floated in block rather than attaching to a flower piece.

Label uses two original blocks, Pinwheel Basket and Three Star Basket (both inspired by Anna's Basket from Heirloom Basket design from Quilted Closet/Timeless Treasures by Elaine Waldschmitt) are set with Tulip Dance block from Block Base. Tulip Dance blocks are rotated. Two challenges occurred in making this label: 1-How to save text as a bmp file for import (I could not save text directly as bmp in Word or Works (2000 version)). What finally worked was opening a text box in MS Paint where I was able to copy and paste from Word and Works... tho' I did have to play with centering and such. 2-Learning how to remove block outlines-- very simple right click but hadn't used before! I would choose to print this label rather than piece it as size is only 2 inches square. Leaving block lines gives this a stained glass look. I am very excited to participate as there are so many places one could put these 'labels' as printed blocks... filled with quotations in a quote quilt, inside cathedral 'windows', as fussy cut type pieces in a pieced block, and incorporated into crazy quilt blocks to name a few.

Quilting Label

label: "This quilt, wrought with so much love, each tiny stitch you see, will be there when I am gone, reminding you of me.
Made for: Quilted by: Date:
"

To be printed as a label. Turn off all outlines before printing. The sewing motifs were all designed by Rita Denenberg and can be found in the EQ5 Block Library. The quotation is an unknown source, and is one that I like for a label. After I drew the block in EQ, I used "export snapshot" to copy just the centre blocks over to Microsoft Image Composer where I added the text and saved it as a *.bmp file. This allowed me to keep the background fabric with the text. click here to email Carolyn www.piecepatcher.com

label: "This quilt made especially for: by: date: location: notes:"

I'm not sure I'd want to piece all those tiny flying geese, but I do like the effect!

label: "For Tracie from Sheila Dec. 2002"

I created this quilt label using letters from the Applique Letter Challenge that was held on the list. To line the letters up I use the Graph Pad. I used one of the border stencils as a back drop for the label. Then added color to it. To give the butterflies the appearance of flying, I use the rotate feature on the graph pad.

I created this quilt label using letters from the Applique Letter Challenge that was held on the list. To line the letters up I use the Graph Pad. I wanted the label to have a layered look do used the Custom set added a blank. Added color to it. Then I added a second blank block over the first and added color to it. I also used border stencils around the block and added color to them.
