Club EQ Album: November 2002 Challenge: Superimpose Blocks! Page 10

"Explore the EQ Block Library and find two blocks that can be superimposed to create an entirely new block. This can be a really fun thing to do and something you might not think to do without the computer to help you! Start by looking at blocks with similar grids. You can explore further by getting bold about what you combine.

The superimposing or overlaying of one block design over another can be done in the Edit mode from the Sketchbook. Save two blocks into the project Sketchbook. Edit one and select all the lines. Copy. Then Paste those lines over another block drawing that you have selected to Edit from the Sketchbook. Carefully center one over the other and look for design elements to highlight with color."

Combined the following blocks to form this quilt block. 1. M004-Royal Star (Hall) 2. M010 - Modern Version of String Quilt (KC Star 1942) I went looking for two blocks that would look good combined together. After playing with a number of blocks this one just look so good together that I know I had to use it. The secondary pattern that looks like a spider web was a bonus. Click here to email Sheila. The sashing looks great in first layout but I also really like this second quilt without the sashing you can really see the secondary spiders web pattern. I also like the way the secondary pattern creates the curved effect in the edge of the quilt. Click here to email Sheila. Click here to visit Sheila's homepage

This quilt has a dark side that can be appealing. I felt it needed no border treatment. Baton Rouge, La click here to email Sherry

Impressions of Frank

I combined Album Quilt and Rail Fence Quilt for this block. I deleted some of the lines and thought the result looked similar to a Frank Lloyd Wright design. Jane Sheetz 1quiltlady@attbi.com

Whirling Stars

I used the Double Pinwheel Whirls block and the Birds in the Air block for this design. I copied the Birds in the Air block, reduced it by 50%, cloned, rotated & pasted it in each quadrant of the block where the previously unpieced triangle was. I then used the two original blocks in the border to give some continuity to the quilt. Barbara in Wheat Ridge, Colorado CrazyQBug@aol.com
