| "Go to the EQ Block Library and search in the Paper Piecing section. Look in Baskets and find the Curved-Handle Basket block. If you display 16 blocks, it's in the third horizontal row, on the right. Decorate that basket! (I got this idea from Pat Tribbey, who hosted an EQ basket block exchange in 1998!) This is a great time to learn to design an Overlaid block." |

What Came First? I guess I still had Easter on my mind when I chose the hen applique motif from the EQ library to place in my basket. From there it was just a matter of adding some "straw" and a circle for the eye. Lots of fun! A great way to try out making an overlaid block. Winnipeg, MB Canada hkleiner@attcanada.ca |

Spring Flowers Flowers designed by Barbara Hamrin. I was doing a spring folk art door hanging and was unhappy with the flowers. I went to my EQ and redesigned what I call a morning glory. Seemed appropriate to use it for this month's challenge. Falmouth Ma quiltbee@cape.com |

My Studio Baskets I collect (and sell) Longaberger baskets, & put many to use holding fq's, scraps, threads, books...All components of the baskets are original, except for the spools, which were adapted from Rita Denenberg's spool in the Contemporary Applique library. I 'lost' the holes in my spools in 'send to back/front' - they're in there - but where? LOL tomball@texas.net click here to go to Diane's homepage |
My Garden Bunny This is my first entry in an EQ Challenge, and my first overlaid block. My garden bunny likes to munch on flowers sometimes, and so I thought he was an appropriate overlay. click here to email Donna |

Anxious For Spring Winter came late this year and was lasting too long here in Wisconsin. Today it was warm enough to clean out some of the flower beds. I am anxious to see my daffodils and tulips in full color glory. Soon it will be a bit greener everywhere, too. Ahh, Spring !! Custer, WI 54423 faith@coredcs.com |

Window Baskets 31x31 All blocks are edited versions of EQ blocks. Getting the overlaid basket block resized to connect to the nodes in the window block was the real challenge. Fort Wayne, Indiana bobkat@onlyinternet.net |
Window Baskets 2 31x31 All blocks are edited versions of EQ Blocks; used flower applique blocks, quilting stencil on basket for diamond design, then resized into the window block to create one new block. Fort Wayne, Indiana bobkat@onlyinternet.net |
Love in Bloom I originally made the nosegay of hearts when I was practicing skills learned in Quilt University's PatchDraw class, taught by Fran Gonzalez. I liked it so much that I had to use it again in this challenge. Champaign, Illinois coeur@soltec.net |

Fabric Love Bugs I started to do a picnic basket with ants, but decided to ladybugs instead! They are attracted to the ladybug fabric. I copied the basket block into an Overlaid block to add the fabric. The bugs & hearts are on Layer 2 of the quilt. Basket Full of Posies I modified the Curved Handle Basket block with a "weave". For the flower, drew a petal & wreathed it in WreathMaker. Pasted basket into Overlaid block and then pasted flowers, here & there, in appliqué tab. Drew a leaf and cloned it to get several in the basket. Also designed the border blocks and the border vines in layer 2. click here to email Pat click here to go to Pat's homepage |
