The Designer Label I created a bitmap for tracing the letters B and V (Arial Black font) in Word. Importing this bitmap into EQ 4.1 let me trace the letters in PatchDraw. I positioned my initials to form a stylized heart and wreathed them in Wreathmaker to see what happened. I may have found a new logo for myself! cptvdeo@inil.com |
Ain't It The Truth? Lettering was traced into EQ 4.1 to make an applique pattern. I used the Arial Black font from Word to create bitmaps to bring into EQ 4.1 for tracing. Some of the sewing notions in the basket were cut and pasted from blocks in the Block Library of EQ 4.1. The markings on the clock were done with Wreathmaker. cptvdeo@inil.com |
1860s Tulips Block was traced in EQ 4.1 from a picture of an antique quilt. 4-block quilts are traditional for using large applique blocks. Here I used 4 blocks to make one motif that I set to look like a 4-block quilt. cptvdeo@inil.com |
Tulip Bed I started by using the Tulip Tree applique motif from the EQ Libraries and made it into a wreath. From there I used one of the tulip heads and replaced the grapes from the Grape Vine motifs. I then decided to "stretch" the wreath and see how it would work in a rectangular centre rather than a square. Winnipeg, MB Canada hkleiner@attcanada.ca |

Up And Away 2 This balloon Applique began as a picture of a real hot air balloon, importated into Patch Draw. The panels were filled in with a few prints from my stash, and the triangle borders were added. Somerville, TX pjautry@aol.com |
Old MacDonald's Farm (Not for commercial use) This is a quilt I actually made for my 2-year-old son last year. I used pictures of stuffed toy animals for tracing. The Sunbonnets on my quilt were traced from another book, therefore I deleted them and edited two of EQ's blocks for this challenge. |
Take a Break An original design. I wanted to submit something completely original for the first challenge of the year. This is my first country quilt setting. |

Original Applique Design for Petal Play I I used the PatchDraw tools to draw this original applique and Wreathmaker to create this original applique motif. Now I'm imagining how it would look if I had used colors to reflect the different seasons. Hmmm...we're only limited by our imaginations, aren't we. San Antonio, TX gilstad@texas.net |
Original Quilting Stencil for Petal Play II Notice that I converted my original applique design into a quilting stencil for the second rendition of my quilt. For the first one, I used one quilting stencil from among the many quilting stencils provided by EQ4. Each quilt has an entirely different "feel' about it, don't you think? And can you imagine how lush the back side of each quilt would look? San Antonio, TX gilstad@texas.net |
Heart Quilt I designed on EQ4 this quilt for 120 hearts that were sent to me to be made in a quilt for a Breast Cancer Charity Project. The actual quilt had angels in the applique but I couldn't figure out how to do that in EQ4. And the dimensions are slightly different in the actual quilt. caroledutton@rogers.com |
Rhapsody In Bloom This is my 1st challenge and my 1st applique to draw in EQ4. The block is an original from the collection of Bonnet Ladies I have fashioned. Doing the challenge was fun! Silsbee, TX loistalk@ih2000.net Lois's homepage |

"But, oh, those bugs!" How wonderful it is that our computers connect us (and our sewing machines) to the Internet...but, oh, those bugs! The turquoise background with the "wire" is an original block design done in Layer 1. The rest of the appliqués are in Layer 2 and are from the EQ block library. anotherpat@aol.com Pat's homepage |

Floral Heart I drew this in Patchdraw using the skills I learned in Fran Iverson Gonzales Patchdraw class. It was fun experimenting with all the different layers and getting everything positioned correctly. It was a challenging drawing project. dmeckle@pacifier.com Astoria, Oregon USA |

Old Saybrook I drew my home, scanned a picture of my church and traced it, drew the outer light house at the mouth of the Connecticut River at Long Island Sound and drew our Town Hall It was great way to practice Patch Draw tools. I used the Shape tools and the zoom in features a great deal and found them very helpful to get the closed patches necessary to color a block. ekallen@snet.net Old Saybrook, CT |

The Hand Of Love I tried the overlay and really got carried away. It was hard to choose one quilt for submission into the challenge. |
A Crisp Fall Day I used the Wreath Maker tool to create the center maple leaf block. The lettering was from the Ravie lettering exchange that I participated in. The pumpkin block was drawn in patchdraw. Alexander, ND quilted@ruggedwest.com |
