August was the unofficial ClubEQ vacation, but also a chance for ClubEQers to build a challenge of their own. The guest hostess for September's clubEQ challenge is Peggy Raley from Boerne, TX. All guest challenge submissions were winners, and will be considered for the next ClubEQ contest. Here is Peggy's challenge: "Use the Snail's Trail block in any quilt setting with any variety of colors to come up with new ideas! 'Snail's Trail' is also known as 'Monkey Wrench' or 'Virginia Reel'. You'll find it in the EQ Library under Classic Pieced, Classics or Classic Pieced, Diamond in a Square. You're welcome to manipulate it in any quilt setting, with or without borders, as you please or combine it with other blocks for secondary designs." |

Eileen Allen I designed this quilt for the EQ4 Sept. 2001 challenge. The Monkey Wrench block was the required to be used for the challenge and i used them as border blocks. The top represents our mountains, the three other sides represent the oceans and sea that surround us, the tans and yellows are the sands. The rays in the center is the blessings God is pouring out on our great country. This is an original design. ekallen@snet.net Old Saybrook, CT |
Eileen Allen This is an original design. The blocks which are in the border represent the waters that surround Manhattan Island. The rays which are decending from the point of the center block reprresent the many blessings God has showered on us, the decendants of those who passed Miss Liberty in New York harbor as they arrived in this great country to start new lives. ekallen@snet.net Old Saybrook, CT |

Shelly Jones Clear Lake, IA; shellyj@netins.net This is my fist attempt at creating a quilt in EQ. I recieved the program 8/31/01 for my birthday (9/6) I saw there was a challenge and decided to play with the snail's trail block for my first EQ quilt. I was impressed with how easy and fun the program is to use. |

Ethel Mecklem I designed this quilt for the Club EQ challenge for September. The theme was Nine-Patch. I was fascinated by the beautiful design this made when placed in the horizontal setting. Astoria, Oregon dmeckle@pacifier.com |
I thought this block reminded me of the beautiful fall colors and the intense blue starry nights of fall. Astoria, Oregon dmeckle@pacifier.comdmeckle@pacifier.com |

The fabric makes this quilt. The stars in the fabric really make it sparkle. I like the way the boder block repeats the four patch in the snail's trail pattern in the body of the quilt. Linda M. Remley Brockport, New York linda.remley@westgroup.com |

Alternating the Monkey Wrench block and a block made of 4 HSTs gave an entirely different look. Kinda looks like the cover of a treasure box. Pat Tribbey - South Florida anotherpat@aol.com |
